We are a specialist engineering group focused on fast-tracked design and construction of minerals processing plants on a fixed price basis (EPC/LSTK). We excel in delivering projects in remote locations and developing countries.

We are headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, with offices in Brisbane and Perth in Australia and throughout sub-Saharan Africa. All of our detailed engineering and procurement is undertaken in South Africa. All plant fabrication and full trial assembly is completed at our purpose-built facility outside of Johannesburg.
We employ nearly 500 project managers, construction managers, engineers, draughters, expediters, site foremen and artisans across our operations.
We have delivered greenfield and brownfield projects in Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe and South America for BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, mid-tier and junior mining companies.
HISTORY
First established in 1993, Consulmet focused its primary business activities on the provision of metallurgical test-work services to the mining and mineral processing industries. These services were later expanded to incorporate project engineering and management services to capital equipment suppliers of metallurgical processing equipment.
During the period of 1996 to 2000 the company consolidated its service provision activities and focused on trading in consumer commodities, expanding this aspect to achieve business stability.
In 2000, Consulmet developed a range of modular reagent plants and secured the Falcon gravity concentrator agency for Africa. Consulmet then continued to develop in the reagent plant business and introduced modular gold plants to its product portfolio.
The company expanded significantly in 2004 with the introduction of modular diamond plants to its range of process solutions. From 2004 to 2014 Consulmet developed from a single company to a group of companies, each with their own unique specialisations in mineral processing, metals recovery and engineering consulting.
Consulmet Australia opened in 2010 with offices in Brisbane and Perth.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
Consulmet utilises an in-house, paperless quality assurance and control system. A key element is trial assembly of all plants prior to stripping, painting and shipping, which minimises site durations and rework.

Our objective is the rapid deployment of robust process solutions to reduce project capital costs and risks, compress delivery schedules and simplify operations.
SPECIALIST IN-HOUSE PLANT DESIGN
All of our plants are designed in-house by our team of metallurgists, multidiscipline engineers and draughters utilizing the latest 3D modeling and analysis software, and then fabricated, trial assembled and tested at our purpose-built facility prior to shipment to site. Our field teams complete site construction, commissioning and plant operation to industry-leading health, safety and environmental management standards.
REAL TIME PROJECT METRICS
All of our projects are directed by our highly-experienced project and construction managers utilizing Consulmet’s unique web-based platforms that replace traditional project controls and reporting with real time, remote access to key project metrics and data.
We also offer a targeted feasibility study service to select clients for plants within our commodity portfolio.
